Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Calcuest (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the website at onlinecalculatorapp.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We take your privacy seriously and do not sell your personal data.

2. Information we collect

Calculator usage data: When you use a calculator, we record the calculator slug and your approximate country (derived from your IP address via Cloudflare headers). We do not record your specific inputs or results.

Blog views: We count the number of times each blog post is viewed. No personal data is stored.

Embed tracking: If a Calcuest calculator is embedded on another website, we record the referring domain to understand which sites use our embed feature.

Log data: Our servers automatically record standard web access logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and used for security and debugging purposes only.

Account data (admin only): If you have an admin account, we store your email address and a hashed password. We never store plaintext passwords.

3. How we use your information

  • To display trending calculators on our homepage based on aggregate usage
  • To improve our calculator accuracy and content based on usage patterns
  • To protect against abuse and unauthorized access
  • To understand our audience geography for regional content decisions

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or resell it to third parties.

4. Cookies & local storage

Calcuest uses localStorage to remember your dark/light mode preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics.

If you are logged in as an admin, a session cookie is set by NextAuth.js to maintain your session. This cookie is cleared when you sign out.

5. Data retention

  • Calculator view events: retained indefinitely for trend analysis (no personal data)
  • Server access logs: deleted after 30 days
  • Admin accounts: retained until the account is deleted

6. Third-party services

We use the following third-party infrastructure:

  • Vercel — hosting and edge network. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
  • PlanetScale / MySQL — database hosting. Data is stored in encrypted databases.

We do not embed Google Fonts at runtime (fonts are self-hosted via Next.js).

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Data portability

Since we collect minimal data and none of it is linked to your identity (unless you have an admin account), most requests can be fulfilled immediately. Contact us at privacy@calcuest.com.

8. Children's privacy

Calcuest is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Adult & 18+ calculators are clearly labelled and accessible only through explicit navigation.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Calcuest after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
